Providence bustles with tour-de-force shopping options. On Mathewson Street, Cellar Stories Book Store stocks first editions, collectibles, and ephemera. Ocean State Chocolates, on Atwells Avenue, is the place for Rhode Island themed confections, handmade fudge, and retro candy. Park Ave Puppy's, with the odd apostrophe on Spruce Street, has brands for all sizes and breeds, plus a Pet Cafe & Barkery. Family-owned Venda Ravioli -- an emporium on Federal Hill, the Little Italy of Providence -– tantalizes with 150 kinds of pasta, including its signature Jumbo Ravioli with 70 fillings from squash to lobster.

As the centerpiece of downtown renaissance, Providence Place -- anchored by the area's only Nordstrom -- features more than 170 stores including Coach, Sony Style, Ross-Simons, Build-A-Bear Workshop and Oop! Contemporary Gift Gallery, plus Dave & Busters, The Cheesecake Factory and Feinstein IMAX Theatre. The open-air Garden City Center near T.F. Green Airport provides a sophisticated blend of regional and national retailers including Ann Taylor Loft, Borders, Chico's, Talbots, and Williams-Sonoma, plus excellent restaurants. Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, providing New England's largest collection of designer and name brand outlet stores, features some 170 stores such as Barneys New York Outlet, Babe, Burberry, Coach, Gap, Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sony, and Timberland.
